# About Ork

Ork is a source-available Grok Bot alternative for persistent AI teammates: bots that can use a browser and shell, remember the work around a job, run routines on a schedule, and ask for approval when they reach a boundary. It is designed for practical operational work rather than one-off chat.

The project started from a simple premise: useful agents should be understandable and controllable by the people who run them. Ork keeps routines in readable Markdown, supports multiple model providers, records actions in an audit log, and lets operators keep model keys, browser sessions, and deployment infrastructure under their own control.

Ork targets the web, macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. The source is public on GitHub. The Apache-2.0 baseline keeps its license. New Ork work uses PolyForm Noncommercial or a paid commercial license. See [licensing](https://orkbot.run/license/). Run it from source on your own infrastructure.
